PTIC provides state of the art MRI imaging for preclinical research purposes here at UCI, other universities, and corporate customers. The incumbent is responsible for assuring the safe, effective, and compliant use of the MRI scanning equipment. Additional responsibilities include daily operation and maintenance of the MR scanner, technical research and assist in the development of new pulse sequences, image reconstruction techniques, and appropriate use of image analysis algorithms. The Preclinical MR technician will also be responsible for MRI image analysis consulting for users as needed. Compensation Range: Hourly: $40.67 - $44.90 Department Website: Required: A minimum of 1 year of imaging experience with functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), structural MRI, and diffusion MRI data acquisition for clinical or preclinical research.Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 1 year of previous research experience in an animal or human research setting in the field of neuroscience, biology, or psychology.Demonstrated experience with operation of and pulse sequence programming preferred.Demonstrated experience with MRI image analysis, quality control, and quantitative evaluation of scanner performance.Strong analytic, inductive, and deductive reasoning skills.Good communication skills oral and written ability to calibrate communication to the appropriate level of the users technical understanding.Good computing skills and familiarity with networking, PC-based database and spreadsheet programs, word processing and image viewing software.Experience in functional, structural, and diffusion MRI image processing Preferred: Demonstrated experience with C/C++, MATLAB, and Python programming languages.Technical computer skills for maintenance of Linux, Windows, and OS X computers General understanding and acceptance of University procedures and goals.
