Director of Athletics and Recreation

Under the direction of the President, the Director of Athletics and Recreation (Director II) has responsibility for the administration and advancement of the University’s athletics program and is responsible for ensuring overall adherence to NCAA and NJAC rules and regulations. The Director manages all department operations; develops and implements policies and procedures; organizes, plans and directs all aspects of the Division III athletics program; manages athletic facilities, intramural sports and recreation programs; and performs related work as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the work day during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience working in an athletics department in higher education is required. Master’s degree; management of intercollegiate athletic, intramural and recreational sports/programs; and college coaching and/or playing experience is preferred. Candidate must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; Title IX; and excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
