Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary:

This is skilled technical work at a journeyman level involving operating, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing: plumbing systems and components, steam and hot water boiler equipment, other gas-fired equipment and fire protection systems. This includes systems in building as well as utility service: water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and gas distribution systems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

*Ability to troubleshoot, maintain and repair steam and hot water boilers and associated system equipment.
*Ability to install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair building plumbing systems and components.
*Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and to work from blueprints and sketches.
*Ability to understand and apply standard trade practices in performing
work.
*Ability to prepare simple, clear and concise written description of work performed or required.

Physical Demands:

*Lifting (up to 75 lbs) stooping, crawling, standing, walking, climbing stairs, work with hands above head, work from a standard and/or extended ladder and from scaffolding.
*Work is performed in both buildings and outside and at time involves working while exposed to adverse weather conditions.
