The Temple University Small Business Development Center is looking for a business-savvy professional to join our collaborative, dynamic team to accomplish our mission.

The Marketing and Communications Specialist supports marketing and communications strategy for the Small Business Development Center’s (SBDC) print, social media and digital presence. Working closely with and taking direction from the Director, SBDC, this position’s primary responsibility will be to develop and implement marketing plans, social media content, strategies, and tactics in order to advance the SBDC’s marketing and communications initiatives. They will: strategize and determine best use of new and existing marketing efforts; curate, create, plan and deploy content for all platforms; monitor and respond to inquiries and comments across platforms; lead the program and event promotion efforts, including ongoing communication with partners; create and distribute client surveys after events to gauge interaction and satisfaction, and analyze results.

The digital marketing specialist will track performance, effectiveness, and results of all social media and programmatic initiatives and prepare performance reports to demonstrate outcomes and ROI using analytics tools.

This role ensures that the team’s content illustrates and promotes the SBDC’s strategic priorities, and the team’s social-media engagement and audience-building goals. They will be responsible for upholding the department’s editorial vision, and the editorial and design standards and style.This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department. 

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and at least four years of related experience in commercial lending, business management, or business consulting.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
 

Required Skills & Abilities

• Ability to demonstrate social media outcomes and ROI using analytics tools.

• Knowledge of Google Analytics and SEO standards

• Highly professional and collegial work style, with the ability to work in a collaborative and constructive manner, and to exercise good judgment in rapidly evolving situations.

• Ability to work effectively in a high volume, fast-paced, highly collaborative educational environment

• Must be able to provide high-level service to constituents, working to understand and translate program needs into creative and impactful communications. Must be poised with strong customer-service skills and be able to work independently under general supervision.

• Familiarity with content marketing strategies and the creation of editorial/content calendars.

• Ability to research and stay on top of trends in social media and technology and adapt strategies and tactics accordingly.

• Demonstrated ability to work concurrently on multiple projects with varying timelines and meet deadlines.

This is a grant funded position.

This position is temporarily assigned a hybrid work arrangement (oncampus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
