The Social Media Manager will work with the Director of Communications to develop an annualized strategy plan to incorporate NOVA’s brand pillars, vision and ensure brand integrity is adhered to throughout all campaigns. They will be responsible for building relationships & communicating the social media strategy to the administrative council, and all other college leadership, in addition to managing the social media specialist. They will build brand awareness, connection, community and enhance the college’s reputation locally, nationally and internationally.

Must work strategically across the college to advance storytelling and brand awareness efforts.

The Social Media Manager will develop, lead , guide the team and implement strategy, and work with the Director of Communications and is responsible for the development and execution of social media content across a myriad of NOVA platforms with the aim to build brand awareness, connection, community and enhance the college’s reputation locally, nationally and internationally.

Must work across the college to advance storytelling and brand awareness efforts. This includes, but is not limited to students, faculty, staff, college leadership and administrative council members.

Special Assignments:

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications:

Strong collaboration skills. Proven ability to manage a brand or organization’s social presence across platforms and successfully engage fans and followers. Knowledge of latest social media trends and policies, business models, and web/SEO technologies. A high degree of professionalism and the ability to work successfully within a cross functional team and members of NOVA’s wider community. Excellent written and oral English communication skills, editing, Web, social networking and marketing knowledge. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. A goal-oriented multi- tasker. Must be proficient at working in a team environment and managing a team member. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft (PC) office applications, HTML, CSS, Photoshop and Dreamweaver. Knowledge of content management systems (CMS). Knowledge of AP Stylebook guidelines and Web products, such as Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and Twitter, along with how to best use them as marketing and engagement tools to promote the College.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree preferred in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, technology, English or related field. Extensive experience writing compelling social media copy across a variety of industries including corporate and non-profit sectors. Higher education environment a plus. Experience working in a Content Management System. Experience with developing marketing plans, informational/marketing materials and online publications.
