Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), the Communications and Programming Coordinator will be responsible for the development and curation of programming content related to instructional support, evaluation and implementation of a comprehensive and strategic communication plan. In association with the development and continuous monitoring of communications the Coordinator will design, in consultation with IT support services, functional data acquisition processes and procedures to facilitate program evaluation and assessment.

Essential Functions

The Communications and Programming Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include advancing the profile for the Center for Teaching and Learning, consistently and appropriately communicating with the campus community about CTL’s mission, maintaining databases related to program participation to support continuous improvement and enhancement of faculty engagement.

  • Website Design and Implementation (30%):
    • Maintain and update the CTL website to assure functionality of the interface, content display and organization.
    • Develop ideas for improved organization and new functionality that will enhance the user experience.
    • Coordinate website management and consult with University Relations and Information Technology services as needed for programming support.
    • Ensure that CTL’s online presence is dynamic, engaging, accurate, and appealing.
    • Maintain knowledge of University communication and marketing policies, procedures, branding, and resources.
  • Coordinate Programmatic Planning and Evaluation (30%):
    • Monitor faculty and instructor engagement in ongoing CTL programming and events.
    • Assess and develop integrated database systems to monitor communications, registrations, and web-based analytics.
    • Integrate various database files and systems needed for report preparation, event planning, programming and faculty recognition (i.e. Distinguished Teaching Award, Manning Prize).
    • Work with the CTL Director and staff to evaluate CTL programming in support of continuous improvement efforts.
    • Develop and coordinate web-based and internal systems for ongoing report preparation and program assessment. Create efficient systems for data collection and reporting with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Create and maintain a searchable database of faculty participation.
  • Monitor and Support Event Programming (30%):
    • Facilitate event planning and CTL programming including monitoring event registrations, communicating with participants, scheduling appropriate facilities, and catering.

Other Functions

  • Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • Experience with web content management systems to create and manage content.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Excel.
  • Working knowledge of web-based content management and survey systems (i.e. Drupal, Qualtrics).
  • Working knowledge of office communication and collaboration software including email marketing platforms (i.e. Emma, Google Apps, and Microsoft Teams).
  • Experience with data collection, management, and report preparation.
  • Ability to work effectively with various constituencies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, flexible, positive and proactive under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects, and exercise good judgment in an organized and professional manner.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

    • Working knowledge of basic video editing and maintaining video repositories.
    • Experience working in a higher education setting.
    • Working knowledge of social media platforms (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).

    Typical office environment.
