Job Details
- Teach course concepts using PowerPoint and other modes of instruction. Help students to troubleshoot lab work in DNA and RNA isolation and handling, subcloning, qPCR, and bioinformatics approaches in the laboratory. Instructor is responsible for preparation of laboratory materials each week. Administer and grade lecture exams/assignments as well as lab assignments.
- Offer at least two office hours per week for student consultation'can be done in person or using conferencing software. Post all grades in a timely fashion to the College's classroom management system. It is essential to regularly check email and reply to emails from students, Biology faculty, College staff, and the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Have experience independently executing and troubleshooting laboratory protocols in DNA and RNA handling, PCR, gel electrophoresis, subcloning and transformation, and qPCR. Experiments could be adapted based on candidate's expertise. Have a strong interest in working with undergraduate students. Have excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, and staff. Must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
