Job Summary

Serve in a lead capacity in the operation and maintenance of a variety of industrial equipment used in support of construction and maintenance of campus buildings and grounds. Activities include road paving, excavations, site preparation and installation of drainage systems. This position will interact with on a consistent basis with: construction and facilities maintenance supervision, craft persons and co-workers. This position typically will advise and counsel: other Equipment Operators. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Operate heavy construction and maintenance equipment and large trucks used in general construction and maintenance activities.


Job Duty 2 -
Lead and participate in operation of equipment used in construction site clearing and grading.


Job Duty 3 -
Lead and participate in concrete pouring operations including equipment operation.


Job Duty 4 -
Maintain and perform minor repair to equipment.


Job Duty 5 -
Provide work guidance to lower level personnel including promotion of safe work practices.


Job Duty 6 -
Maintain records as assigned.


Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma

Required Experience
Three to four years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This position requires advanced knowledge of and skills in general construction, heavy equipment operation and maintenance, installation of drainage systems, excavation and fabrication. Leadership skills are also required.
