Job Summary

Provide a holistic experience to students in assigned target group(s) through mentoring, counseling and support aimed to achieve academic excellence and progress toward graduation for a diverse student population. This position will interact on a regular basis with: students, unit and department staff, faculty, and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: students and department staff. This position will supervise: N/A.


Job Duty 1 -

Develop, oversee, implement, and participate in individualized academic support plan for assigned student-athletes through use of sport(s) specific structured study hall and small group/individual tutoring assistance, Head Coach (or designee) communications, Sport Administrator communications, Assistant Athletic Director and Associate Athletic Director weekly meetings, GT Athletic Association and other tutorial support, midterm U meetings, time management, study skills development and learning strategies.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Job Duty 2 -
Aid in monitoring National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Progress to Degree requirements, continuing eligibility, academic standing and GT graduation plans of student-athletes while communicating regularly with colleagues to insure compliance with eligibility requirements.

Job Duty 3 -
Create and maintain weekly student-athlete assessment reports and communicate concerns consistently and in a timely manner with Director, Associate Director, and coaching staff.

Job Duty 4 -
Collaborate with on-campus advisors and faculty to advise student-athletes across all GT majors in regards to course selection, class schedule, major concentration and graduation plans, and assess class progress (e.g. attendance, performance, participation, behavior). Assist with all aspects of sport(s) specific faculty guest coach program.

Job Duty 5 -
Assist with organizing and conducting academic presentations for prospective student-athlete recruiting visits in coordination with on-campus advisors

Job Duty 6 -
Assist in evaluation and pre-certification of student-athletes, NCAA initial eligibility / transfer eligibility

Job Duty 7 -
Collaborate scheduling and coordinating student-athlete events in conjunction with the Total Person Program (e.g. student-athlete orientation, student-athlete career fair, freshmen leadership academy, graduate test prep)

Job Duty 8 -
Refer student-athletes to appropriate specialized staff for issues such as comprehensive counseling, financial assistance, international student-athlete counseling, Accessible Disabled Assistance Program for Tech Students, etc.

Job Duty 9 -
Perform and interpret DegreeWorks audits

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Up to two years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
One year of experience providing student-athlete academic support

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

This job requires working knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) rules and regulations. Experience working with web-based student performance monitoring systems and office computer applications. Ability to assist students-athletes in applying effective learning strategies. Must be strongly skilled in trust-building, communication, service, collaboration, interpersonal awareness, drive, influence, integrity, conflict management, development of others, and cultural competence.
