Work Schedule:

Position is Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm, however the work schedule is event driven. Incumbent will be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays to support event needs.
This position is a mandatory position in the event of adverse weather conditions or other emergency operations.
This position is also an Exempt position (non-hourly).

Primary Purpose of Position:

As Technical Director for the department, the incumbent programs, operates, and maintains the complex audio, video, and lighting systems located in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center and other Venue Management facilities as necessary.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from a four year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties:

Program, operate and maintain the complex audio, visual, and lighting systems located in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center and other venue management facilities. Perform troubleshooting and repairs to the software and component level on computer systems and associated output devices related to all audio/visual systems. Coordinate lighting and electrical needs for all of Venue Management events. Serve as a resource person concerning technical services for all SACVM events. Recommend appropriate in-house equipment and advise on contracted services. Responsible for the Venue Management business band radio system. Responsible for maintaining the department key box system. Responsible for rigging and lighting systems; for in house, closed circuit TV system with fiber links to the Charlotte community for live broadcast; for facilities CCTV. Manage a team of full time employees and student staff including scheduling, professional development, technical standards and accountability. Provide the knowledge, structure and programming to train full time employees and student staff on current equipment and the latest technology standards. Complete administrative tasks that are required of a supervisor including evaluations, documentation, record keeping, project management and equipment forecasting. Maintain an audio visual inventory by developing a preventative maintenance program. Provide basic troubleshooting and repairing. Provide budget information to the Senior Associate Director with emphasis on equipment replacement or new purchases related to audio, lighting, audio visual, video and theater/concert equipment. Accurately quote and invoice for services provided for SACVM events.

Other Work Responsibilities:

Act as department liaison for the security camera system.
Serve as a project manager for any audio, visual, or lighting projects.
Provide graphic design for video board as necessary.
Maintain BSAC in-house PA system.
Maintains and monitors audio/visual service agreements

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

Graduation from a four year college or university and three years experience in sports or event facility technical services with a preference for arena and/or stadium operations.
Experience with programming, operating and maintaining complex audio, visual, and lighting systems.
Perform troubleshooting and repairs to the software and component level on computer systems and associated output devices related to all audio/visual systems. Experience with coordinating lighting and electrical needs for events. Experience with rigging and lighting systems.
Experience managing a team of full time and student staff including scheduling, development, technical standards and accountability. Provide the knowledge, structure and means to train full time and student staff on current equipment and the latest technology standards. Completion of administrative tasks that are required of a supervisor including evaluations, documentation, record keeping, project management and equipment forecasting.
