Assistant Project Scientist - Reverse Transcriptase Biochemistry and Applications - Molecular and Cellular Biology
The department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Assistant Project Scientist in the Collins Lab, in the area of reverse transcriptase (RT) engineering and assay development.
The Assistant Project Scientist will pioneer new molecular detection and sequencing methods using modified eukaryotic retroelement RTs. The scope of responsibilities spans vector design, molecular cloning, mutagenesis, recombinant protein expression and purification, recombinant RNA expression and purification, nucleotide incorporation assays, protein-nucleic acid interaction assays and structure/function, and next-generation sequencing methods development.
The Assistant Project Scientist will work independently as well as in coordination with other scientists. Up to 10% time may be committed to training new lab members and/or infrastructure maintenance.

This position is covered by the UC-UAW collective bargaining agreement for Academic Researchers.
