Junior Specialist - Department of Nutritional Science & Toxicology- Metabolic Regulation - Napoli Lab

The Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Junior Specialist in the Napoli Lab, in metabolic regulation. The overarching goal of the Napoli laboratory is to determine regulation of retinoic acid biosynthesis and catabolism and relate the processes to retinoid physiology.

The Junior Specialist will aid in the study of the role of glucocorticoids in regulating the retinoic acid catabolic enzyme Cyp26A1 in mice and cultured cells. The Junior Specialist will use a LC/MS/MS quantification method. This method was developed in the Napoli lab and is unique for quantifying low amounts of retinoic acid in tissues and cultured cells. The candidate will tend to mice, harvest tissues, extract retinoids, prepare samples for analysis, and load samples onto the LC/MS. The candidate will then collate data and plot the results. The candidate will be trained and instructed to run tests and present research results to the PI for review. The candidate will also incorporate their techniques employed during their research to manuscripts and review manuscripts for accuracy.

This recruitment will remain open until filled.
