Clemson University's Woodland Cemetery Department is looking for a Research Historian to fulfill the following duties:
- This position would be responsible for research in support and collaboration with the postdoc historian and research team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
40% - Essential - In collaboration with the research team, engage in archival and primary source research and in oral history research, in conjunction with the ongoing research needs in the cemetery project, including the African American Burial Ground. Coordinates, plans, designs, and executes research activities. Establishes priorities and maintains project deadlines for successful completion.
35% - Essential - Coordinates with the community engagement team and with digital communications to provide information to aid efforts in community engagement, including conducting research and creating ongoing content for the project website (www.clemson.edu/cemetery) and social media sites. Coordinates with temporary personnel affiliated or associated with the research component of the project, such as postdoctoral fellows or undergraduate/graduate students/interns/volunteers.
25% - Essential - Maintains scholarly affiliations and activities and engages in the activities of various professional organizations to ensure solidity of networks, and best professional practices, benchmarking against peer institutions.
Education – Ph.D. in History (or Related Field in Humanities)
Work Experience – 3+ years of Post-Doctoral Research Experience in US History or Related Field
Education – Ph.D. in History, with concentration in US history, or related field in the humanities; familiarity with, and knowledge of, digital methods; advanced assistant professor or associate professor if candidate has academic rank
Work Experience – Some university history research experience preferred.
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
