JOB SUMMARY:

Clemson University is looking for an IT Security Engineer to fulfil the following duties:
  • Implements security-related solutions designed to provide monitoring and analytical services for university networks and systems to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university information system resources.
  • Provides guidance to various teams across the University to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.


JOB DUTIES:

35% - Essential - Security Infrastructure:
Maintain and build security tools and processes for critical infrastructure protection, monitoring, and remediation. Installs, configures, and maintains IT security hardware and software monitoring and control systems across multiple environments. Design, deploy, and manage network security infrastructure components such as network firewalls, VPN appliances, and IDS/IPS solutions for the campus network. Serve as primary support person for SIEM products and backup administrator for log file aggregation solutions.

25% - Essential - IT Security:
Support existing security infrastructure and assist with the design and implementation of new solutions to protect Clemson's systems and networks. Designs, tests, and evaluates IT Security Solutions or alternatives to provide campus-wide solutions based on industry standards or University compliance needs. Work closely with members of the Cybersecurity Operations Center, developing processes and procedures to be utilized in support of day to day operational activities.

25% - Essential - Network Security:
Architect and support new and existing holistic network protection technologies across the enterprise. Collaborates with network engineers to design, test, evaluate, and implement authentication, authorization and accounting best practices.

10% - Essential - Consultation:
Serve as a resource to other members of the University in IT Security and Privacy-related issues. Stays abreast of information security-related technologies, including hardware and software solutions designed to maintain security control in a diverse enterprise environment.

5% - Essential - Vulnerability Management:
Work with the CSOC to evaluate and remediate vulnerabilities discovered across the University environment in areas such as; assets accessible through the border firewall, network hardware, and web applications.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience may be substituted.

Work Experience Experience working in two or more of the following:
  • Security monitoring and intrusion detection; Network protocols and secure network design; operating system internals and hardening methods (e.g. Windows, Linux, OS X, Android); web application and browser security; security assessments and penetration testing; authentication and access control; applied cryptography and security protocols; incident response and forensics; development of security tools, automation or frameworks.

Certifications CISSP, GIAC (GPEN, GCIH, GXPN, GSEC, GWAPT, GCFA, GREM), or OSCP preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Overnight Travel

Employee will be expected to respond to situations during non-normal university operating hours. Participation with on-call rotational duties within the group will be expected.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range: ($ 60,344.00 - $ 75,000.00)
