Department Description:

The work unit within the Marsico Lung Institute where this position will be located is one of the clinical research groups. Research and clinical activities of the Institute include federally and privately funded grants, contracts, and industry sponsored drug studies which involve basic and clinical research. The clinical research activities take place in the Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC), the outpatient adult pulmonary clinic, outpatient pediatric pulmonary clinic (UNCH), inpatient pulmonary units (UNCH), and research labs in Marsico Hall.

Position Description:

THIS IS A TIME LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 2 YEARS.

This position works closely within a team focused on research studies involving rare airways diseases. This coordinator position is expected to work independently to evaluate and recruit study subjects, coordinate study visits with patients, coordinate the study visit tests and perform specific tests at visit. They are expected to complete data entry into several databases after visits and attend weekly team meetings and conference calls.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Familiarity with the outpatient clinical setting, inpatient processes, study subject screening and enrollment procedures, managing research study visits, performing research tests at visit, handling biological samples, and entering data into various databases. Familiar with IRB processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiar with clinical/hospital/office environments and with coordination of a human research protocol. Familiar with the processes of clinical research. Excellent communication and organizational skills required to interface with a variety of people. Must be able to work independently and with a team.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Valid NC Driver’s License

Special Physical and Mental Requirements:

Extensive travel between building locations. Able to transport a cart with 50 lbs of equipment with or without accommodation.
