In this capacity, the position is responsible for providing leadership for the human resources operations and support across all employee types including faculty and non-faculty employees, student employees, graduate teaching assistants, post-doctoral scholars and temporary employees. This includes interpretation of University HR policies, providing consultation and advice on HR issues and concerns, and developing and implementing both local and the institution’s HR strategies and plans within the work unit. The Assistant Dean serves as the principal liaison between the ASOD and key University central offices regarding HR-related matters including the Office of Human Resources (OHR), Academic Personnel, the EOC Office, University Payroll Services, International Student and Scholar Services, and the Office of University Counsel. Success in this position will rely on the ability to skillfully navigate between the roles of strategic advisor and functional expert in order to support all areas of the employee experience and the overall business needs of the ASOD. The Assistant Dean serves as both a strategic advisor who champions and fosters the School’s mission and vision and as a transactional manager who is actively involved in daily operational human resource functions and activities. As a functional manager, leading a team of 6 full-time staff, the Assistant Dean will clearly define roles and responsibilities across the team and effectively manage the team’s performance to ensure optimum HR service delivery.Educational Requirements:
