Department Description:

The Department of Radiology, School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina is committed to excellence in providing radiological services to the people of North Carolina, training future radiologists and engaging in basic and clinical research. The physicians provide services to patients at UNC Hospitals as well as additional sites across the state. More than one-half of the faculty is also directly involved in research studies with other universities, with other departments in the Schools of Medicine and Public Health, and with the Department of Computer Science.

Position Description:

The purpose of this position is to facilitate the conduct of clinical trials, including subject and data management, according to federal regulations, Good Clinical Practice, and local and institutional policies. In addition, this position will provide nurse navigator for patients receiving embolization procedures in the Department of Radiology.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of experience in the area of specialization.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of professional nursing care practices and principles. Ability to assess and interpret medical and clinical information. Ability to provide advice and counsel. Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships and ability to establish and maintain effective communications with patients, health care personnel, staff, and others. Ability to convey information clearly and concisely (both written and verbal). Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Experience working with human subjects in a clinical research setting. Preference will be given for individuals holding a clinical research certification (CCRP, CCRC, ACRP-CP, RAC).

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
