Essential Job Duties:

The Multimedia Specialist is a crucial part of the Textile Creative and Technology Services department that is the subject matter expert for creative requests including, but not limited to, graphic design, video production, photography, 3D modeling and animation design. This position also has minor project management components involving interacting with internal and external contractors to produce creative work that supplements this position’s skillset. Common requests can include videography, photography, animations, or content graphics for academic and extension courses. Additional requests may include logo integration, marketing materials and content for social media and websites for the Wilson College of Textiles. This position works with a variety of equipment, including cameras, lighting equipment, as well as various software and editing applications.

While this position’s primary responsibilities reside in the production of creative work and reports to the Textiles Creative and Technology Services department, clear communication and coordination must be present with the Marketing and Communications department for the Wilson College.

The ideal candidate is an artist with a wide range of skills as well as leadership capabilities to enable the team to expand the creative services offered as well as offer process improvements for internal and external creative works. Additionally, the candidate must be able to excel in the higher education environment and design creative works in support of learning technologies or academics.

Minimum Education and Experience:

A graduate degree in the arts, design, multimedia, or a computer related field; or a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant professional training and experience.

Other Required Qualifications:

Must be proficient in video editing tools, animation tools, and graphics programs.

Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere or equivalent multimedia and vector based drawing programs

Experience with audio and video recording hardware

Experience with 2D and 3D animation tools

Experience with windows based permissions

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, ability to work in a team and establish collegial relationships with faculty and staff.

Professional preparation in using multimedia hardware and software.

Knowledge of emerging technologies as related to teaching and learning.

Ability to manage multiple projects and utilize or find resources to complete projects in a timely manner.

Excellent time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two or more years of experience with the following software packages:

  • 3D animation experience in 3Ds Max or Maya.
  • 2D animation and drawing experience Adobe After Effects and/or Adobe Flash Professional.
  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere
  • Programming experience in PHP, ColdFusion, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5
