Research Specialist I

Job description


Princeton University's Department of Molecular Biology seeks a Research Specialist for the Schedl lab. The goal of our research is to understand how genetic regulatory mechanisms impact on the elaboration of developmental pathways-- how are developmental pathways chosen and how is this choice of a pathway subsequently remembered. We have examined the mechanisms controlling pathway choice and pathway maintenance in three different D. melanogaster developmental systems.


Position Duties will include the following:

  • Fly stock maintenance
  • Setting up fly cages
  • Conducting experiments
  • Staging embryo collections
  • Processing for nuclear extracts and other procedures.

This position is part-time (50%), and is a two-year term.

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Experience in working with flies/embryos is preferred.
