This position is responsible for a variety of duties within the Sports Information office. Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Director of Athletic Communications, the Assistant Sports Information Director will support the communications and media needs of CMS Athletics’ 21 sports programs and the Athletic department as a whole.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Sports Information Director, the Assistant Sports Information Director performs the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Assisting the Sports Information Director with coverage of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ 21 varsity sports
Serving as the primary contact for assigned sports (assignments subject to change)
Staffing home and select away and Championship contests including the supervision of student workers at contests
Writing previews, recaps and press releases
Managing and creating content for CMSAthletics.com
Developing strategies and producing creative content for CMS Athletics social media
Managing live streaming and other broadcast media
Collecting and maintaining statistics
Supervising student workers
Other duties as assigned by the Sports Information Director

Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Previous experience working in a collegiate Sports Information office or related field preferred. Experience with StatCrew/Presto Stats, Adobe Photoshop, video editing, broadcasting, social media, website management, games management, writing, and working under pressure also preferred.
A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required. A valid driver’s license is required to drive College-owned vehicles and the ability to be insured under the College’s authorized driver’s policy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift up to 30lbs. on occasion.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.
Demonstrate effective, accurate and clear communication with excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, reading, phone, customer service and leadership skills to supervise, facilitate, motivate and inspire a highly diverse group of student employees. Follow all written and verbal instructions, asking questions as needed for clarification of projects, tasks, duties, and assignments.
Operate computers proficiently with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook) and associated professional software (such as Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere. iMovie, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook).
Prioritize and perform multiple projects, meet deadlines, respond to others in a timely manner, and work both independently and as a collaborative member of the Athletics Department with a high standard of integrity and ethics.
Use strong organizational and time management skills to complete work with accuracy and a keen attention to detail.
Ability to travel.
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this position are 40 hours per week. The scheduled hours for this 40 hour per week position will vary based upon the needs of the department and based upon the athletics schedule. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel will be required. This is an 11-month position.

A CSA is a key partner in helping the College comply with the requirements of the federal Clery Act, the goal of which is to provide information about safety and crimes on campus. Because crimes are often reported to employees who are not law enforcement or campus safety officers, the Clery Act obligates the College to identify who on our campus is likely to receive such reports and inform them of this role and responsibility and train them on what to do with that information. As a result of this designation, upon hire, and periodically thereafter, you are required to take the Clery Act training course. Such online course will be assigned to you and will need to be completed within the first six months of your employment.
Required On-site or Remote Personnel
During an emergency, required on-site or remote personnel provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the College, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect College properties.
On-site personnel are expected to come to work in emergency situations unless they are specifically excused by their departments. On-site personnel are required to report to Campus to perform required function.
Remote personnel can continue operations without physically reporting to campus.
