Buena Vista University, a member of the American Rivers Conference and NCAA Division III, seeks to hire an Athletic Director.  Reporting to the President and Vice President for Student Success, the Athletic Director represents the athletic program to the campus, NCAA, American Rivers Conference (ARC), other colleges and universities, university benefactors, and the public. The Athletic Director sets the tone for the University’s Athletics programs and is instrumental in establishing and maintaining a culture of winning based in fair and competitive performances; promoting and celebrating diversity, equity and inclusion; and ensuring academic achievement is a priority for student-athletes and coaches.

The following three priorities, identified by the University President, will be of greatest importance for the new Athletic Director:

1)     Oversee the development of highly competitive BVU athletics teams in the American Rivers Conference and in NCAA division III. 

2)     Champion the student-athlete experience, working with people across campus to ensure that student success in an out of the classroom, retention, and graduation are a priority for student-athletes and athletics staff.

3)     Oversee annual fundraising and the cultivation and acquisition of major gifts for BVU athletics.


Masters degree required.  Five-years of experience working in college athletics required.  Athletics administrative experience strongly recommended.
