Job Information THE UNIVERSITY: Augusta University, located in historic Augusta, Georgia, is one of only four public comprehensive research institutions in the state of Georgia. THE DEPARTMENT: The department offers undergraduates degrees in History and Anthropology, and teaches a broad range of core social science and humanities courses.

Job Summary The Department of History, Anthropology, and Philosophy at Augusta University seeks a full-time Lecturer of African American History for a one year position, for academic year 2021-22. Appointment to begin August 2, 2021. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. MA in History or African American Studies required, ABD or PhD preferred. The successful candidate will teach both halves of the US History survey course, and the upper-level sequence in African American history. Standard duties for lecturers include teaching five courses per semester.

Responsibilities include: Teaching courses as assigned; holding office hours, providing timely grading and student feedback; adhering to all academic policies of the University.

Required Qualifications
    Earned MA in History or African American studies from an accredited college or university.Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness with diverse student populations.
Conditions of Employment

The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.
