The Department of Neurosurgery at CU Anschutz has an opening for a full-time faculty position in the tenure track at the rank of Professor. The Department’s goal is to build a multi-disciplinary group of investigators driving research innovations and education in neurologic health. We are seeking expertise in neurochemical studies on aging and neurologic injury and development of programmatic research on aging, neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation. The Department is focused on developing novel approaches to understanding neurologic injury and disorders, and identifying and applying methods, approaches and tools to diagnosis and treatment. In addition to collaborating with other researchers and clinicians within the Department of Neurosurgery, we anticipate that the faculty member will collaborate with other Departments and multidisciplinary groups internal and external to AMC. Examples of Work Performed
Conduct research.Collaborate with other physicians-scientists, scientists and engineers within the Department, University and with those at national and international institutions.Collaborate with other investigators at CU and other Colorado Universities via COCARE (Colorado Coalition for Aging Research and Education) as well as national/international Universities and publish in the aging and neurodegeneration field.Research mentorship (graduate/medical students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, fellows, and research staff).Salary and Benefits
- Obtain extramural support for studies.
- Provide mentorship to other faculty and students with grant applications.Publish high-impact manuscripts in peer reviewed journals.Provide leadership and expertise to the Department with regards to Colorado non-profits and government agencies in the area of aging.Provide expertise and guidance to the Department with regards to developing large programmatic efforts. Provide academic leadership and service to the Department, School, University and profession.
The salary range (or hiring range
) for this position has been established at $175,000 - $185,000.The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. PhD in Neuroscience, Toxicology or PharmacologyAt least 10 years’ experience as a principal investigator in both clinical and basic research programs Accomplishments and publications in the areas of neurodegeneration and aging and/or neurotherapy and repair mechanisms. Preferred Qualifications
