The Department of Ophthalmology has an opening for two (2) full-time Instructor – Optometry positions.

Job Summary

The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking applicants for two (2) full time (1.0 FTE) Instructors to work as optometrists in our growing academic ophthalmology practice at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center (SAREC).  The positions will provide outpatient medical and perioperative management of ophthalmic disorders, routine eye screening, visual acuity testing, and refraction at SAREC and affiliate sites of practice within the Denver metropolitan area. 

Posting Description

These positions will be responsible for direct patient care at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center (SAREC) and UCD affiliates in the medical and perioperative management of ophthalmic disorders, routine eye screening, visual acuity testing, and refraction. May prescribe and fit contact lenses and eyeglasses. Provides pre and postoperative management of cataract and refractive surgery patients.

Supervision Received

The position will report directly to Richard Davidson, MD, Professor, Department of Ophthalmology.

Supervision Exercised

Position exercises no formal supervision. 

Professional Field

OD with approved residency training in optometry.

Examples of Work Performed

Provides direct patient care at the Sue Anschutz Rodgers Eye Center (SAREC) and affiliate sites of practice in the medical and perioperative management of ophthalmic disorders, routine eye screening, visual acuity testing, and refraction. May prescribe and fit contact lenses and eyeglasses. Provides pre and postoperative management of cataract and refractive surgery patients.

 

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position has been established at $108,000 - $140,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have a Doctor of Optometry or equivalent degree, will have completed an approved residency program in optometry and must have a Colorado medical license or be eligible.

Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and proficiency in medical and perioperative management of ophthalmic disease.

Knowledge and proficiency in routine eye screening and medical and perioperative management of common ophthalmic disorders is required as is the ability to provide pre and postoperative management of cataract and refractive surgery patients. 

Desired Qualifications

Previous work experience in an academic or hospital based healthcare environment is preferred.
