Responsibilities Responsible for providing art therapy at Correctional Institutions in Florida. Responsible for providing art therapy services in one-on-one and small group settings where the primary objective is to provide therapeutic services to prison inmates that are eligible for special education service under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. These students will have documented emotional and behavioral disabilities or have demonstrated significant behavioral issues while incarcerated. The services provided will work to reduce students’ disciplinary referrals and time spent in confinement and increase access to academic services.

Works closely with Project Director [Dave Gussak, PhD, ATR-BC] to gather and outcome data monthly and annually based off research conducted.

Other responsibilities will be included as outlined in the Scope of Service as agreed upon between the University and the Department.


A Master’s degree in art therapy or a master’s level clinician who has received additional art therapy education that meets the expectations for the national credentials, granted by the Art Therapy Credentials Board. In addition, it is expected that the candidate will have had at least two years of clinical experience.

Ability to demonstrate critical thinking based upon in-depth data, substantiating information, considering and respecting others' input personal values, and ethics.

Experience with independently performing tests, examinations, and procedures relevant to the assigned area of research.

Experience preparing reports and presenting scientific findings.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development, and evaluation.

Preferred Credentialed in the ATRP (Registered Art Therapist, Provisional) , ATR [Registered Art Therapist] or ATRBC (Registered Art Therapist, Board Certified).

It is preferred that the candidate have at least two years of clinical experience with adults with intellectual, behavioral and/or emotional difficulties in a clinical and/or correctional setting.

Anticipated Salary Range

Full-time $50,000
