Department Summary:

The VPAA Office of Curricular Innovation and Academic partnerships (CIAP) supports faculty and students through partnerships and collaborations internal to UNT and externally within the community. Emphasis is place on the development and implementation of high-impact educational practices (Kuh, 2001). Additional current initiatives include textbook affordability and accessibility and learning analytics. Career Connect is a major initiative of CIAP that enhances, assesses, and showcases UNT students’ marketable skills by engaging them in high-impact, experiential learning, reflection, and ePortfolio activities that are provided through UNT courses and activities. Connect is implementing UNT’s digital learning and employment record and is also responsible for the UNT ePortfolio system.

Position Overview:

The position provides executive administrative and analytical support to the Assistant VP of academic affairs and other members of the Career Connect team. Responsibilities include special projects, departmental budget activities, correspondence, and calendar maintenance. Coordinates activities on behalf of the department and acts as University-wide administrative liaison. Identifies issues or problems and researches solutions within specific management areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and five years of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced written communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple
tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.
• Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex
nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.
• Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments
• Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and
• Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
• Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned
• Supervisory skills.

Work Schedule:

M-F 20 hours w days and hours negotiable TBD but must be within the 8-5 workday

Classification Title:

Sr Administrative Coordinator


Provides support to the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and other Career Connect team members on an as-needed-basis. Responds to requests in a timely manner and is effective in prioritizing projects and meeting deadlines.


Coordinates and implements special projects (as needed) with very limited supervision. Offers to take on special projects that benefit the mission of the Career Connect department.


Provides ongoing reconciliation of department financial budget in a timely manner. Prepares all travel documents and routes them appropriately. Assists in tracking funds allocated to the department as well as the expenses that are made by the department.


Follows through on purchases using Pcard, requisitions, and IDOs for the department as needed and in a timely manner. Verifies and maintains inventory records for the department on computers, supplies, etc.


Provides support in reporting requirements as needed. Seeks information through training and information gathering in order to ensure that the department completes all reporting that is required by UNT and/or the state.


Serves as the first point of contact for the Career Connect office. Greets all visitors and university constituents in a courteous manner.


Maintains data files and information in an organized and effective way. Utilizes the Career Connect shared drive folder as well as folders in One Note for storing data, documents, and other information.


Assists in setting meetings for the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and other Career Connect team members on an as-needed-basis. Assists in event planning by overseeing all food and beverage purchases.
