Job Description:

The incumbent will develop and optimize new procedures for physiological measurements of muscle from mouse models. Improve existing techniques and develop new ones. Maintain mouse colony inventory and oversee genotyping of mouse colony lines. Contribute to research conducted in the lab for current and future research.

Interface with outside investigators to organize schedules of analysis and coordinate animal transfers. Will train and supervise lab undergraduate and graduate students in the physiological measurements and procedures. Will oversee lab members who use the laboratory for their own experiments. Will plan the timing of ongoing studies, and coordinate with his fellow lab colleagues and outside investigators to execute these studies in a timely fashion.

Data analysis and archiving

Tissue histology and processing

Ordering supplies and management of equipment maintenance. Maintain laboratory inventory

Other duties as assigned

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related field and three years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree in biology or a closely related field and one year of relevant experience; Doctoral degree in biology or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior laboratory research experience is required. Experience in physiology, biochemistry and/or molecular biology research is desired.
