Description:

The Department of Physical Therapy in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Cardiorespiratory Physical Therapy. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022, or shortly thereafter.

We are seeking candidates conducting rehabilitation research that will advance the field of cardiorespiratory physical therapy. Research in the fields of pulmonary, cardiac or oncology rehabilitation are of particular interest.

The successful candidate must have a PhD degree by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter in either rehabilitation sciences, exercise science, health sciences or a related area, with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. Candidates must have completed a university level entry level to practice degree in physical therapy. Completion of a Post-Doctoral fellowship in a related area will be considered an asset. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier including a teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations, or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference. Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference presentations or posters. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to integrate clinical and scientific knowledge in their teaching design and delivery in their application materials. Experience teaching in an entry-level professional physical therapy program will be considered an asset.
