Your opportunity:

The Associate Director, Clinical Operations is responsible for the leadership and management of the Clinics. Responsibilities include managing the distribution and duties of the staff in the Clinics and related areas, such as the clinical and technical service laboratories; ensuring the provision, admission, care, fee collection and discharge of all patient records, and the examination and resolution of patient complaints. The Associate Director ensures appropriate mechanisms exist to implement and monitor infection control, the operation of the pharmacy, and quality assurance of patient treatment. Ensure student orientation and assignments to the Clinics, and the regular collation of clinical evaluation data to monitor student clinical progress. Collaborates and cooperates with departments/disciplines on the implementation of new programs, given the existing and available clinical support staff. Liaises with the University’s administration and Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario on matters related to malpractice and public liability.

The Associate Director, Clinical Operations is responsible for providing input to the Director, Clinical Affairs and the Dean in the development of strategic plans to ensure the effective utilization of the Faculty’s clinical resources.

The Associate Directors is also the Privacy Officer of the Faculty of Dentistry as required by PIPEDA and PHIPA and is responsible for ensuring that the Faculty fulfills its responsibilities under the Act.

Qualifications Required:

Education:

Master of Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

At least ten years experience clinic administration or healthcare setting, preferably in an accredited Dental Faculty. Broad, in-depth knowledge of applicable legislation, policies and best practices. The ability to lead and manage in a complex and collaborative educational setting. Experience leading change. Experience managing staff in a unionized environment.

SKILLS:

Excellent management and leadership skills, ability to mentor, and the ability to effectively lead and manage change. Planning, organizational and analytical skills. Strong computer skills. Discretion and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive issues

OTHER:

Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills including the ability to inspire, motivate and mentor staff. Demonstrated decision-making ability with respect to organizational structure, staff and management. Effective communication skills, strong interpersonal skills. Superior analytical capabilities. Ability to manage multiple demands and interruptions while adhering to strict deadlines. Demonstrated ability to direct multiple work units.
