The University of South Carolina’s School of Medicine Greenville is accepting applications to fill the new and exciting role of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Pathway Coordinator .

Under the leadership of the Assistant Dean for Admissions, with direct supervision from the Manager of Admissions, the Admissions Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Pathway Coordinator supports the School of Medicine Greenville’s DEI pathway programs which are focused on recruiting, supporting, and engaging students who meet diversity dimensions* followed by the UofSC SOMG. The Admissions DEI Pathway Coordinator is responsible for the programmatic life-cycle of DEI pathway programs from researching and implementing new programs all the way to tracking career progress/development of participants in DEI pathways programs who enter a career in health care career and/or healthcare training.

*Diversity dimensions include students who identify as the following: (a) underrepresented in medicine: Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, and/or Native American; (b) socioeconomically disadvantaged; © from a rural community; (d) first generation college students; (e) learned English as a second language, (f) second career.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):

Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Prior experience with State Agency or University procedures and policies.
•Prior experience with university administration
•Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook and database management
•Prior experience developing and/or administrating grant-funded projects
•Prior experience with supporting with students from diverse backgrounds
•Prior experience with university administration

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds
•ability to work well under pressure and manage concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions; strong analytical thinking skills
•Proficient in Microsoft Word and other software or database management systems as required.
•The employee must use their discretion in organizing their work, compiling confidential information and reports. Responsible decision-making, confidentiality, careful discretion and unquestioned accountability is essential.
•Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, professionalism, experience with supporting students from a diversity of backgrounds, and the ability to meet expected deadlines while prioritizing multiple tasks and maintaining confidentiality are essential to successful performance.
•The Admissions DEI Pathway Coordinator will perform in an effective and cooperative manner as a member of a high-functioning team, and demonstrate self-awareness, professionalism, open/transparent communication, and emotional intelligence.
•The Admissions DEI Pathway Coordinator must demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion with experience fostering an inclusive environment, engaging in ongoing professional development, and working as part of a learning community with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, educational background, languages spoken, socioeconomic status, and geography, among others.
