Position SummaryTHIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT SDSU EMPLOYEES ONLYUnder immediate supervision, and in accordance with schedules or instruction, the Laborer performs the full range of general manual labor (moving heavy objects, removing debris, cleaning gutters and drainage structures, hauling waste and recyclables, performing pick and shovel work, assisting trades and grounds workers, etc.). Must be able to perform strenuous physical work while using mechanical aptitude and motor coordination. Ability to implement safety procedures, resolve problems and improve safety in the workplace. Works to instill in others the importance of workplace safety rules and regulations and takes appropriate actions. Ability to conduct hazard assessments, address hazards appropriately and apply controls as appropriate to address/mitigate hazards; promptly follow-up on health and safety risks, taking appropriate action(s) and provides necessary reports and documentation.For more information regarding the Facilities Services department, click here.This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before 12/30/2021. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Available shift: Monday – Friday 3:00 am - 12:00 pm.Education and ExperiencePrior experience not required.License/Certification RequiredCalifornia Driver’s License is required.Preferred Qualifications Prior experience at a similar higher education environment, or a large multi-building facility environment.Ability to drive manual transmission vehicle.Ability to operate a forklift.Compensation and BenefitsStarting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,100 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,912 - $5,048 per month.
