Two (2) Temporary Position(s) located at Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese, NC/ Position (s) open to assist in planning and implementing the weekly CSI 2018 summer day camp programs (June 21-August 13, 2021). This position will be required to work in the classroom and occasional outdoor activities at CSI and in the field at off site locations. This position will be responsible for presenting age-appropriate programming related to the research and activities of the Coastal Studies Institute to participants in CSI’s summer day camps.Job Duties :
Lead educational and engaging lesson plans and activities for camp participants both at CSI and in the field. Identify and respond to camper behavior issues; communicate camp activities/experiences with camp leadership; and know, understand and follow CSI and ECU camp safety protocols and procedures associated with CSI’s summer camp programs.Minimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related childcare experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
-Prior experience in a science education (formal or informal is preferred). Knowledge of natural history, environmental and marine education. Delivery of science education program to summer campers.
-Interpersonal skills, time management, leadership, research, planning and organizing. Provide effective feedback to leadership regarding classroom needs and summer program development.
-A high degree resourcefulness and problem solving.
-Excellent oral and communication skills.
-Good judgment and be flexible.
-Team player and the ability to work in a fast paced educational environment.
-High School degree or equivalent is required
Valid NC Driver’s License
Upon hire, completion of CPR, first aid and any additional training required by ECU/CSI.
