Position Description:
Under the general supervision of the Manager - Mason, Paint, Roofing and Sign Shops, and the direct supervision of the Supervisor, Paint and Sign Shops, receive work assignments from Supervisor and/or Lead Painters; inspect and maintain painted exterior and interior painted surfaces, trimming and fixtures of buildings and other related structures and facilities. Use premixed paints or custom prepared paints; apply wood finishing (new and/or old surfaces) by appropriately preparing surface. Cover interior walls and ceilings of offices and related facilities with wallpaper or fabrics. Operate and maintain High Pressure Low Volume (HPLV) Spray Booth Equipment in order to finish and refinish wood, metal and synthetic surfaces. Prepare surfaces and apply stains, paints, shading stains, and clear finishes. With smaller projects and minor repairs, evaluate problem. Discuss jobs with supervisor in order to keep apprised of job progress and resolve any problems related to the job; submit completed work orders to supervisor. Provide direction to semi-skilled or unskilled workers. Maintain accurate hours on each job; operate and maintain a variety of power and/or hand tools and equipment of the trade; follow established safety procedures; clean up job site and return equipment and tools; respond to off-hour emergencies and overtime as required. Follow established safety procedures at all times; clean up job site and return equipment; maintain spray volume logs and Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) logs.
