Job Description

A postdoctoral position, is available in the Division of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences in School of Pharmacy. The lab investigates neuronal signaling in the brain, focusing on neuronal injury, brain ischemia, and vascular cognitive impairment. The current research emphasis is on the contribution from acid-sensitive GPCRs and acid-sensing ion channels to these processes.

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in neuroscience research. The ideal candidate should have a recent PhD (graduated no more than 3 years) with a strong knowledge in both basic neuroscience and clinical neurology. The candidate should have 3 or more years research experience in the field of ischemic stroke. Additional qualifications/prior experience include 3+ years of experience with mouse middle cerebral artery occlusion (Longa model) surgery, Western blot, PCR, RT-quantitative PCR, confocal imaging, stereotaxic brain injection, routine brain histology (cryosection and staining), analysis of blood-brain barrier in mice, rodent behavioral assessment, and management of transgenic and knockout mouse strains. Prior experience with grant/fellowship application experience is highly desired.
