Job Description PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The PT Coaching Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting students with their needs in the game room and sports fields areas; checking student IDs; providing support to students and sport club organizations. This person may also be asked to assist with special projects as assigned by the Office of Student Life-Sports and Recreation, no limited to serving as the college mascot. Assist with running intramural and club sports, both on and off campus. Assist with Community Service Projects, as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Implement and promote sports and rec programsAssist in maintenance of all athletic supplies and equipmentAssist in set-up and breakdown of Sports and Rec and Student Life eventsDevelop activities that promote and increase student retention and successServe as a community resource person and represent the college when requestedAssist students, employees, and community members with questions related to the sports programsAnswer phone calls and emails in Sports and Rec departmentEnsure safe and structured programsAbide by all rules in college's Policy and Procedure manual, including safety waivers, recruitment of players, GPA, and eligibility guidelinesResponsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Computer experience requiredEmail, Excel spreadsheets, MS Office, PowerpointTelephone, fax, copy machinesUse of audio/visual equipmentScore clocksField lining equipmentOfficiating intramural games.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, and assorted sports equipmentInterface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the positionWork is often performed in outdoor elements, including extreme heat and coldWork hours will include evenings and weekends

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within first 30 days after hired
  • Must be in good academic standing
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $11.78.
