Position Summary:

This position will be stationed at the Miller Learning Center Classroom Support Office to manage classroom IT systems in nearby classrooms, supervise and cross-train student workers on IT field service, and serve as the 2nd tier support contact for any IT issues escalated from student and classroom support technicians in the field. The individual in this position will diagnose and resolve issues pertaining to podium computer hardware, software, peripherals, and network devices used by the UGA instructors to facilitate instruction in UGA classrooms. This individual will be responsible for setting up and supporting LANDesk management system to monitor classroom IT systems. This individual will provide quick, efficient on-site and telephone support of classroom IT to ensure minimal classroom downtime and disruptions. This position will also be the main contact for the room management systems (e.g., AMX RMS, Extron GVE) used by CTL Classroom Support. Both technical and interpersonal skills are required. This position will report directly to the CTL Classroom Support Assistant Director for Project Management and Engineering.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

Technical knowledge in the field through an acquired apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the minimum qualifications.

Excellent interpersonal skills as they will be working with CTL Classroom Support technicians as well as UGA instructors in a classroom environment, often in time-sensitive situations such as during a class in progress. This position also expects good IT problem-solving skills, intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of PC and Apple hardware and software support, solid and verifiable experience with and knowledge of the LANDesk IT management system, and previous experience with Active Directory. Some knowledge of or experience with AV presentation and control systems. A valid Georgia driver’s license.

Physical Demands:

Lifting and moving of computer equipment that can weigh up to 50lbs. Work in an ongoing classroom environment where resolution of an issue is time-sensitive. Driving.

Daily monitoring of assigned classrooms (on-site and remotely), quick response and answer time to faculty classroom computer problems relating to presentation systems and faculty training.

Percentage of time:



Maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of computers and computer software (using LANDesk) on devices connected to classroom presentation systems. Serve as primary point of contact for CTL Classroom Support RMS/GVE room management systems. Provides support for AV DHCP device addition through Proteus.
