Position Highlights:

The Talanquer Laboratory at the University of Arizona is seeking a motivated Assistant Research Scientist to support a National Science Foundation sponsored project designed to build and study a faculty professional development model for improving instructional teams’ abilities to practice evidence-based instruction in large enrollment STEM collaborative learning environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project activities related to research and professional development in collaboration with other project members. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter, have a background related to education research, and be familiar with working in a university setting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage research activities related to project aims. This will involve taking the lead in designing studies, and overseeing data collection and analysis. Data types will include qualitative data (e.g., interviews, classroom observations and written participant reflections) and quantitative data (e.g., numerical survey results and student performance data)
  • Collaborate with project team members to communicate project results in the forms of reports, manuscripts, and presentations
  • Work with other team members to support implementation of project professional-development activities, particularly when relevant to project research questions. This will require an understanding of curriculum design, instruction and utilizing student support in teaching
  • Establishes and maintains communication with project participants to organize research and professional development activities within the project

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to be self-motivated in work
  • Knowledge of education research
  • Familiarity with working in a university setting

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multiple years of experience working on projects or programs related to higher education research, or equivalent
  • Experience with projects or programs involving designing/delivering professional development in instruction would be highly valued
