The Program Coordinator serves as aprimary resource for Latino students and Latino-based initiatives and workscollaboratively to support the mission of The University of Toledo.
The Program Coordinator isresponsible for assisting in retention of multicultural and Latino students bydeveloping and implementing programs and services to meet their needs. In collaboration with other campus partners,the Coordinator is responsible for the enhancement of OMSS programs and services. TheCoordinator will be expected to facilitate cross-cultural, educationalworkshops, programs, and initiatives that promote social justice for students;the coordinator may also have the opportunity to facilitate diversity andleadership education for students. This position will actively participate inother initiatives within the Division of Student Affairs, as well as across theUniversity to enhance diversity awareness/inclusivity, engagement and academic successfor students.
- Master’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university, major in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.Minimum of two years professional experience in higher education setting or working in a related field. Experience in developing and implementing programs that promote student learning about identity and difference within the context of a multicultural society. Experience working with multicultural and Latino student populations preferred.Experience in advising multicultural student organizations is preferred.Proven ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies, including campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community members.Proficiency with office technology.
- Strong listening and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.Comfortable public speaking in large and small groups.Proven organizational skills required especially in program and project management.Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, team management, and leadership skills.Ability to effectively communicate utilizing social media and other electronic communication systems.Ability to prioritize, strategically plan, work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and change of focus.
