This is a 19½ hour per week maximum, part-time student position reporting to the Academic Services Coordinator for the School of Business and Public Management. The weekly schedule will be assigned by the supervisor in conjunction with the student’s class schedule and department needs. The work schedule is subject to change between semesters or as needed. Students are not to work during scheduled class time, even if class is cancelled or dismissed early.
The position requires employees who are able to positively represent the Office and College to various internal and external constituents. As representatives of the School of Business and Public Management, student employees must have effective writing and verbal communication skills and portray a professional demeanor at all times. Student employees provide assistance to student organizations, faculty, and staff in all programmatic areas housed under the School of Business and Public Management. Student employees must have a high level of integrity as they may come into contact with confidential information. Student employees will provide administrative support to members of the School of Business and Public Management.Essential Duties:
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist School of Business and Public Management personnel with clerical tasks and special projects.
Serve as first point of contact for students, faculty, and visitors.
Maintain a high level of integrity when handling confidential information.
Serve as a resource to SBPM visitors for: class schedules, faculty locations, building and classroom locations, program information and referrals to other departments as appropriate.
Answer phone calls as a representative of the College, route calls to the appropriate person, and take detailed phone messages.
Provide administrative support to faculty as requested (e.g. research, drafting memos, compiling notes, creating postings, copying, faxing, etc).
Assist in the setup of events, programs and meetings as needed.
Work as a team with other Student employees to maintain a seamless experience for visitors.
Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications and Training:
Must be available to work as well as other times as needed.
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
Must possess strong customer service and communication skills.
Must be dependable.
Must have knowledge of general office equipment.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.Preferred Qualifications and Training:
Demonstrates excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
Demonstrates ability to concurrently handle both co-/extra-curricular and curricular
Junior or Senior class standing preferred.
Minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher preferred.Work Hours :
