Visiting Assistant Professor/InstructorJob Summary:
Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor to teach Disability Studies in the Department of Educational Psychology. Appointment is for August 2021-May 2022 with the possibility of renewal depending on available funding and job performance. Successful applicants will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Disability Studies (DST). The candidate’s area should center on the sociocultural and political aspects that impact the disability experience rather than a medical-therapeutic (diagnostic) study of disability. The DST Minor adopts a critical disability studies perspective and centers disability justice activism.Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Disability Studies or closely related field for appointment and university teaching experience as Visiting Assistant Professor or Master’s degree in Disability Studies or closely related field by date of appointment and five years of professional experience for appointment as an Instructor.

Consideration may be given to candidates with practical knowledge of and current engagement with anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and community-centered work that directly impacts disability communities of practice - especially those living at the intersection of other marginalized identities along the markers of race, class, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, citizenship status and others; experience with scholarly activism and with a focus on culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies; experience with establishing and successfully maintaining community partnerships; experience of integrating critical literacies in the classroom; teaching hybrid or fully online as well as face-to-face courses; skills to incorporate technology in teaching; work with learners from multiple cultural backgrounds; evidence of leadership skills.Special Instructions to Applicants:
