Description of Work:

The Aquatics Assistant will assist the Aquatics Director in the administration and management of all operational aspects of a comprehensive aquatics program. Some of the responsibilities will include training, scheduling and evaluating student staff, leadership development, risk management, facility and event management, administrative support, maintenance of records, and communication/collaboration with student, university, and community organizations and individuals. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Recruit, hire, train and evaluate lifeguards
• Conduct in-service trainings for lifeguards no less than one time per month
• Maintain an open line of communication with program participants
• Assess programs and adjust as needed for the success of aquatics programs
• Assist Aquatics Director in preparing and managing the aquatics budget
• Assist Aquatics Director in creating, promoting, and managing new aquatics/safety based programming
• Assist with risk management initiatives and the implementation of risk management policies and procedures
• Assist Aquatics Director in equipment inventory, repair, and management
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions

Preferred Skills:
• Relevant aquatic teaching/management experience
• Exceptional organizational and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Current Lifeguarding/FA/CPR/AED instructor certifications preferred
• Four year degree preferred
