Description of Work:

The individual in this position will provide managerial support in the laboratory of Dr. Klarissa Jackson in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics (DPET). The position works independently and proactively on laboratory maintenance, supply ordering and record-keeping, inventory management, equipment maintenance, laboratory safety compliance, and implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures. This will primarily involve: (1) managerial support to Dr. Jackson in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory, including ordering supplies, documenting expenditures, maintaining equipment, maintaining laboratory inventories of supplies, chemicals, and freezers, managing sample storage and data files; and (2) supervising laboratory safety, safety inspections and protocols, and assisting with safety training and documentation for laboratory personnel.

Education and Experience:

Demonstrated possession of competencies necessary to perform the work.

•Excellent organizational and communication skills (including written and verbal communication)
•Excellent record keeping and database management skills
•Ability for detailed and meticulous documentation and organization of paperwork, files, and supplies
•Ability to plan, work independently, develop, and implement standard operating procedures
•Working knowledge of appropriate laboratory techniques, equipment maintenance, terminology, and safety compliance procedures
•Strong sense of teamwork and accountability
•Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
