This position’s duties will be providing support for the Technology Commons as well as advanced support for Instructional Technology & Desktop Services (ITDS)

Working hours will generally be Monday – Friday from 10:00a – 7:00p and may be adjusted based upon management discretion.

Student Technology Assistants. In addition, this position will serve as a backup to extended hours support for the Division of IT to analyze and triage high priority issues. Professional judgment must be used to follow-up and resolve related problems in a timely manner. Employee is responsible for recording incidents, problems and requests for change in the Cherwell Service Desk application. The employee will be responsible for hardware and software troubleshooting, support, and any other computer related support needed for WCU faculty, staff and students.

The employee will provide support, troubleshooting, coordination and collaboration around other Technology Commons’ efforts. This position will also be responsible for assisting clients in 3D printing and modeling, as well as print projects for students, faculty, and staff. Regular project involvement for the team and Division will also be required. Part of these efforts includes the possibility of training WCU students the skills they need to complete course assignments through workshops, hands-on, and one-on-one sessions. Employee may also be asked to assist in the social media efforts to promote the services offered at the Technology Commons and assisting with chat services. Employee may also be tasked with assisting in the resolution of hardware and software technical issues across any
ITDS functional areas. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position:

The ideal candidate should have strong customer service skills, which includes but are not limited to the following:

The ideal candidate should have:
- Working technical knowledge of Mac and Windows computer hardware and software
– Working technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Macintosh OSX operating systems
– Working knowledge of antivirus, spyware, malware, and the troubleshooting of each

-Experience with ticket tracking software, project management tools, and equipment checkout tools
-Experience with Microsoft Office365
-Working knowledge of current operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android
-Experience working with 3D printers

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school and a valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with:
– Experience working in a college or university computing environment?
– In-depth experience using Cherwell Service Management, TeamDynamix project management, SCCM, Bomgar, JAMF, Avira, Office 365, and WebCheckout applications.
– Experience working in a technology support function such as a help desk or service center
-Knowledge of wireless devices and how they work
-Working knowledge of 3D Printing and Modeling
-Working knowledge of LulzBot, fusion and Form 3D printers
