Position Description:
The California Policy Lab creates data-driven insights for the public good. Our mission is to partner with California's state and local governments to generate scientific evidence that solves California's most urgent issues, including homelessness, poverty, criminal justice reform, and education inequality. We facilitate close partnerships between policymakers and researchers at the University of California to help evaluate and improve public programs through empirical research and technical assistance. CPL's UCLA site sits within CCPR and is a dynamic and growing organization with 20 full-time employees, a half dozen graduate student researchers, and numerous faculty affiliates. CPL is extramurally funded by over 20 different federal and foundation grants supporting over 60 major research projects. The Fund Manager will be managing a portfolio of about $5m in grants and contracts per year, which support over 20 full time positions and come from over two dozen unique funding sources.

Under the direction of the CPL Executive Director, the fund manager will be responsible for a portfolio of extramural research funding including federal and foundation research awards. CPL's Fund Manager will provide a broad range of professional services including proposal budgeting and submission, contracts and grants management, and financial planning and reporting. The Fund Manager will collaborate in a team with CPL's Executive Director, Development Director, and Program Manager. He or she will also work with various campus units to manage contracts and grants from inception to closeout, including sub awards management. The Fund Manager will provide financial projections for the Executive Director and Faculty Director and will work closely with CPL staff to coordinate the hiring and/or compensation of CPL's Faculty Affiliates, Graduate Student Researchers, Postdoctoral Scholars, full-time employees, and consultants.
