Position Description:
Under the direction of the Manager of Mail Services or the Director of Mail, Document and Distribution Services, incumbent is assigned working leader responsibilities for mail-processing duties on a daily basis that are completed according to the university, state, and federal guidelines and procedures. The incumbent may be assigned as the initial point-of-contact for customer inquiries and departmental relations; additionally, incumbent will serve as the coordinator for staff training, vehicle utilization, managing mail routes and mail codes, and routine inventory. US Postal Service (USPS) rates and regulations, mail processing procedures, and University policy and Procedure 310 must be understood and applied. Three years of experience in handling U.S. mail and/or campus mail is preferred, and ability to address changing priorities is essential. The incumbent is expected to lead a team collecting, sorting, processing, and distributing internal and US mail such as First Class, Registered, Express, stamped mail, and intra-campus correspondence. Other duties include the operation of University mail-processing equipment and systems, general housekeeping, and one or more unspecified mail-processing assignments. Must be able to effectively communicate with a diverse population including co-workers, supervisors, campus departments, and customers.
