The Department of Plant & Microbial Biology is committed to the University of California's mission of dedicated research and to providing a superior education in plant biology, microbiology and related life sciences.

  • Experiments including growth phenotypic analysis, system level approaches, bioreactor setup, isolation of DNA and RNA and cloning.
  • Contributing to writing manuscripts
  • Ordering supplies for the different projects of the lab
  • Maintaining strain, primer, and plasmid libraries organized and updated
  • Maintaining chemical catalog organized and updated

Required Qualifications
  • Experience in microbial growth
  • Experience with sterile techniques
  • Experience with basic biochemical techniques: Protein purification, liquid chromatography

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, or Biochemistry, or related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Experience in lab research for 2+ years

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with system level approaches such as metabolomics and RNA-seq

Salary & Benefits

This position is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay for this role is commensurate with experience.
