The Systems Support Technician reports to the Help Desk Manager and primary responsibilities include providing technical support to a multi-campus IT inventory, including, but not limited to: computers and appropriate software (administrative and academic), local and network printers, audio-visual equipment, hardware/software configuration, support installation and troubleshooting, site planning; technology research/prototyping and managing system support service agreements. Normal work hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. The position requires periodic overnight travel including nights and weekends. Pager standby duties and work rotating shifts are also required. Must posses the ability to distinguish colors, lift moderately heavy (40 pounds) items and climb ladders.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
This position requires a high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, sales or marketing, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. An equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered
Successful candidate will have working knowledge supporting computers/peripherals in an enterprise system. Hands-on experience providing support with various MS Operating Systems and Office Suite Applications is essential. This position works directly with faculty, staff, students and vendor systems engineers and must have proven ability to effectively maintain working relationships. Strong interpersonal and communications skills is a must. Candidate must have experience producing technical and non-technical reports for staff and vendors. . Troubleshooting multimedia equipment in a classroom environment, configuration and implementation skills are highly desired.
