Digital Communications Manager - UT College of Arts and Sciences

Regular Fulltime, MR10

The Office of Arts and Sciences Communications within the UT College of Arts and Sciences seeks a digital communications manager. This position will work collaboratively as part of a team of communication professionals to provide expertise and implement a strategy for website projects, digital content and design, and data analytics.

Responsibilities

    Develop, design, maintain, and update existing websites (WordPress and static HTML) and other electronic media and assist with migration and creation of content into modern content management systems to ensure content sustainability and consistency of digital brand standards across all college web propertiesManage use of the email marketing platform for the college, create templates for all email needs, and distribute targeted emails/e-newsletters to a variety of internal and external audiencesWork with college constituents to ensure website content is accurate, up-to-date, and within brandMonitor digital media platforms and provide reports on analytics to inform strategic and content planningCoordinate the college social media ambassador program and work with faculty in each department to recruit and train students to be social media ambassadors for each unit and the collegeUtilize the project management platform to create and manage digital project planning and prioritize work for all units in the college in order to meet deadlinesLiaise with the UT Office of Information Technology for technical website issues and ensure the college’s digital portfolio is secure and running at maximum efficiencyCreate occasional graphics for social media and website postsParticipate in the UT communication communities and completes professional development opportunities to keep knowledge and skills updated


Qualifications
Required Abilities and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in web/digital communications (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)Detailed knowledge of WordPress development best practices and web development trendsDetailed knowledge of web server configurations, particularly for WordPressDetailed knowledge of web accessibility standards, usability best practices, and principles of user-centered designAdvanced knowledge of HTML, PHP, CSS, and other web languagesAdvanced interactive design skills and information architecture skillsAbility to work with MySQL databases and API integrationsFamiliarity with Adobe Creative Suite; Sass or Less based CSS preprocessing; jQuery, and JavaScriptAbility to carry a web development project through its life cycle from concept to implementationAbility to prioritize, manage, and deliver multiple projects on a rolling delivery scheduleAbility to produce creative work within established templates and content delivery systemsAbility to work well independently and as a member of a collaborative teamStrong organizational skills and proven written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Preferred Abilities and Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field and five years of experience in web development/ITAdvanced knowledge of WordPress development and web development trendsExpert interactive design and information architecture skillsGeneral knowledge of Sass or Less based CSS preprocessingFamiliarity with React.js, Vue.js, or Angular.js libraries and frameworksFamiliarity with WordPress Gutenberg block development General knowledge of the principles of effective communication, marketing, and advertisementBasic ability to design graphics for web and social media platformsBasic ability to edit short videosBasic ability to write and edit content for digital communications
