Position Highlights:

The Department of Physiology is seeking a lecturer for a non-tenure track, year-to-year Lecturer position, beginning June 2021. The selected candidate will teach and coordinate a large undergraduate course in human anatomy & physiology each semester and during the summer and teach other core or elective courses in human physiology. The department is seeking an individual who is able to work with diverse students, trainees and colleagues, and who has experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Teaching and Coordinating responsibilities:

    Coordinate the PSIO 201 and PSIO 202 online course offerings including the main campus icourses and the Arizona Online courses for fall, spring and summer.
oEnsure that course objectives for PSIO 201 and PSIO 202 align with our in person courses.

oEnsure that online courses are consistently organized and taught from semester to semester and on main campus and AZ Online.

oDevelop course materials using evidence-based teaching practices for online course modalities.

oSource materials including apps, textbooks, software, and dissection kits (if needed) to create an active online learning environment.

oSupervise and train graduate teaching assistants for online course offerings.

oCommunicate and coordinate with the PSIO 201 and PSIO 202 course directors and lab coordinators.

  • Teach or co-teach PSIO 201 during fall, spring and summer in person or online depending on department needs.
  • Teach or co-teach PSIO 202 during fall, spring, and summer in person or online depending on department needs.
    Teach PSIO 295R (Exploring Physiological Research).
oTeach this one credit class for sophomores enrolled in the ‘Physiological Research and Innovation’ emphasis area in the Physiology and Medical Sciences major starting in academic year 2022-2023.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in a biological science field AND twoyears of teaching experience including online teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Ph.D. in physiology or related field AND three years of experience teaching undergraduate students including online teaching experience.*Experience in ordering, operating and trouble-shooting physiology laboratory equipment.*Good computer skills, including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.*Familiarity with online teaching programs (Panopto, PlayPosit, etc), anatomy apps, software and other resources that can be incorporated into the Human Anatomy and Physiology course.*Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, with individuals and groups.*Experience in course development.*Great organizational skills.

Our Main and Health Sciences campuses are located near downtown Tucson.
