Directly impacts student satisfaction and student retention. Programs and services are designed to actively engage students, contributing to their overall academic and personal success and commitment to the University.
Contributes to the University’s strategic plan through diversity advancement, student engagement, and providing quality programs.
Creates a culture of learning and engagement for students by applying student development and learning outcomes theories within student engagement to promote students’ academic and personal success.
This is an interim position, and duration of this position will be for one year from date of hire.Qualifications:
Master’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university, major in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
Minimum of four years professional experience in higher education setting or working in a related field.
Experience in creating educational programs that promote student learning about identity and difference within the context of a multicultural society. Experience working with multicultural and LGBTQ student populations preferred.
Experience in advising multicultural student organizations is preferred.
Proven ability to effectively work with multiple constituencies, including campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community members.
Proficiency with office technology.
Communication and other skills:
Strong listening and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Comfortable public speaking in large and small groups.
Proven organizational skill required especially in program and project management.
Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, team management, and leadership skills.
Ability to effectively communicate utilizing social media and other electronic communication systems.
Ability to prioritize, strategically plan, work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and change of focus.
Professional office environment. Maintaining standard office hours Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 5:00 pm, with regularly required nights and weekends. Frequent lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs., and traveling between buildings on campus. Works with high volume of students.
